<p></a> Each year, Saatchi LA partners with thinkLA’s Multicultural Advertising Training (MAT) program, to award one deserving college junior/senior or recent graduate with a $2500 scholarship based on merit. This year we are pleased to announce our recipient is Ben Ortega.
</p>
<p>
Ben will be graduating from California State University at Fullerton this May with a Bachelors degree in Advertising. He was a member of the CSUF AdClub, a participant in the AFF National Student Advertising Competition, as well as having completed a MAT Internship during his final semester at CSUF.  He plans to use the scholarship to purchase a MacBook Pro as well as help to repay some of his student loans.
</p>
<p>
Born in Italy, Ben was raised in a military (Navy) family, and is the youngest of 4. He grew up all over the world but calls San Diego, California home. He took a year off before beginning his college career to travel the world and spent most of his time in Australia and Japan, which is why Saatchi &amp; Toyota are close to his heart. Post graduation he plans on spending some time at home with his family (his brother is member of Special Forces and has been deployed until recently) and regrouping before starting his career in advertising.

<em>The MAT Program opens doors and provides opportunities for multicultural talented college students that may not be available to them otherwise. By placing interns with industry experts, the MAT Program gives future leaders a unique education through relationship-building and industry-specific knowledge to help them build a career. Since its in 1992, MAT Program has placed over 500 multicultural interns and helped launch many advertising careers. </em>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>This year, Saatchi LA will be coordinating a series of events in observance of Earth Day on April 22. The events will take place over the course of the week and are designed to promote awareness and prompt individuals to conduct their daily lives with a focus on sustainability. Some of the week’s activities include reducing the use of paper goods by providing reusable water bottles to all employees, a recycling drive for batteries and old cell phones, creating a ride share map to encourage carpooling and committing to “Do One Thing” that has a positive impact on the Earth and/or our community (i.e. bringing reusable bags to the grocery store, switching to compact fluorescent light bulbs). We’ve also invited our fellow LA agencies to join us as we turn out the lights in our building for an hour each afternoon to conserve energy. We believe that together we can make a difference.</p>
